Explore the Parkland

The parkland is now open to the public and visitor information can be obtained from the Long Barn Visitor Centre.  Please note that the parkland is now home to both red and fallow deer.  Dogs are allowed in the parkland, but only on a lead, in order to protect the deer.

Restoration

The first phase of Parkland restoration is coming to a conclusion, and works have included:

  • Strafford Gate - now repositioned and fully restored 
  • New gates and access drive to visitor car park
  • Car park, tennis courts & football pitches removed
  • Pasture now managed to maximise ecological diversity
  • Great South Avenue restored, with 125 new oak trees transplanted from elsewhere on the estate
  • A new Monument Trail completed - linking the Serpentine with Ivas Wood, the Rotunda and the South Avenue
  • Over 21,000 new trees to be planted in Broomroyd Wood and Ivas Wood
  • Restoration of the Rotunda

Opening Times

The Gardens are open daily, April to September10am-5pm, last admission 4.30pm. From October to March, 10am-4pm, last admission at 3.30pm.
